Disturbance in Southeastern Gulf

Hurricane - Tropics
More WFLA Tracking the Tropics

There is a weak disturbance in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. This area of showers and thunderstorms is not organized has a low chance of developing into something tropical/sub-tropical in the next 2 days and a medium chance of developing in 5 days.

If this area were to become more organized it would likely only become a depression. While development isn’t likely, this area of low pressure will bring most of Florida and even our area rain. Since this isn’t going to be a strong system it will benefit us since we are in need of some rain.

Tropical disturbances in May are not uncommon. We are about 2 weeks away from the official start of the 2018 hurricane season.
