The Texas Department of Public Safety presented a 12-minute video of aviation operations at a Public Safety Commission meeting on Friday, August 31, 2018. One of the videos included in the presentation was related to the Austin bomber case and another included rescue operations during Hurricane Harvey.
A different portion of the video, however, is grabbing attention because it involves a woman with a baby in her backseat on a high-speed chase with police. A DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a Mercedes SUV on June 15th. The female driver, who had outstanding warrants, sped off and led police on a high-speed chase, travelling up to at least 100mph on busy highway 90. The driver’s front tire was disabled by a tire deflation device by a trooper in communication with DPS aircrew.
The driver eventually crashes into a white pick-up truck, grabs the baby out of the backseat and flees the scene. While attempted to carjack another vehicle, a trooper arrived at the scene. The suspect was arrested and charged with child endangerment, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
The entire video presentation can be viewed on the Texas DPS YouTube channel, BUT WE MUST WARN YOU, the video is GRAPHIC.
