Mobile, Ala. (WKRG) – Tropical update!

We have a couple of areas we are looking at in the tropics.

Tropical Storm Dorian is now forecasted to remain a tropical storm as it passes over the Windward Islands today and moves into the Caribbean. It is still uncertain whether it will impact us, or what impact it will have. Because this system is so small in size and compact in its structure, it is subject to fluctuate in intensity and track. This makes it difficult to forecast, only increasing uncertainty for our area. We will have a better idea if or when it survives its journey across the Caribbean where it will encounter drier air, wind shear, and mountainous islands that could break it apart.

We also have Tropical Depression 6 that has formed off of the east coast. This is forecasted to stay in the Atlantic and head towards Nova Scotia and Newfoundland as a tropical storm.

More active tropics is a great reminder that we are nearing the peak of hurricane season. Please stay informed!

Be sure to check back later today for more updates.
