Thacker Mountain Radio is headed to Mobile

Mobile, Ala. — The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, the Oxford, Ms based music and literature program heard statewide on Mississippi Public Broadcasting and Alabama Public Broadcasting each Saturday night, will record a program in Mobile, Saturday, May 4th.

The hour program, hosted by Mississippi writer Jim Dees, will be at the Cedar Street Social Club in Mobile. It will feature an appearance by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Bragg and performances by Mobile native Will Kimbrough and up and comer Love Moor of Birmingham.

Thacker Mountain Radio is known for its eclectic mix of regional authors and performers. The program celebrated its 20 year anniversary on the air in 2017.

Best-selling author Rick Bragg is known for his memoirs All Over But the Shoutin’ and Ava’s Man. His new book is The Best Cook in the World: Tales From My Mama’s Table.

Mobile native and multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer, Will Kimbrough just released his latest album I Like it Down Here.

Birmingham-based Love Moor (Erica Andrew) is a neo-soul-singer-songwriter. Her latest album is Simp Girl.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Cedar Street Social Club at 4,2106 N. Cedar St. in Mobile Saturday night. It is being recorded to be aired later on public broadcasting.

Admission is free though seating will be limited and offered on a first-come, first serve basis.
