MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Today is a News 5 WEATHER ALERT day. Much of our area has been upgraded to a level 4 out of 5 risk for severe weather is in place meaning widespread severe storms are likely. There is still a level 3 of 5 risk in place for mainly NW FL.
PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION – A PDS Tornado Watch has been issued for our our MS counties as well as Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, and Monroe counties in AL until 8 PM tonight. Strong tornadoes are possible.
Starting mid-afternoon, a broken like of showers and storms will slowly move from west to east around 3 PM. These storms will carry a more significant threat of a few tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and localized flooding through Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. One or two strong tornadoes will be possible. The line will move out by early Thursday morning.
Winter air returns to the Gulf Coast late this week and this weekend. Highs will only reach the 50s with morning lows in the 30s and 40s.
