MILTON, Fla. (WKRG) Lightning struck a house in Milton as storms moved across the Gulf Coast overnight. It happened in the 9000 block of South Trace Road and nobody was hurt.

WKRG talked to a neighbor on what it was like that night.

Betty Kelle says “This storm was really bad. There was a crash of thunder that my dog just went berserk over.”

Kelle is the neighbor of the house that was struck that night and she says it’s not something uncommon to happen in the area either.

“It’s happened before we have had lightning strikes happen around here and i don’t know why… Maybe it’s because we live out in the open,” says Kelle.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriffs’ Office says the damage was only minor to the home and it really only suffered electrical issues.

We did reach out to the homeowners but they were out of the house at the time.
