Teen who was struck, killed while attempting to flag down driver for help identified

MONROE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Alabama state troopers are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Evergreen woman.

Starrett Jovanna Simpson ran off an embankment and was attempting to flag down another driver for help when she was struck and killed, according to authorities. The crash happened around 9 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 84 at the 81.7-mile marker, five miles southeast of Monroeville.

The driver of the other car was uninjured.

State troopers continue to investigate.
