UPDATE 10:00 AM: 37-year-old Johnathan Crook has been identified as the suspect in what’s described as an attempted home invasion. The jail log says he lives on the same street where the shooting happened. He’s being held on $100,000 bond and is charged with home-invasion robbery.
A spokesperson with the ECSO says early this morning the suspect started banging on the homeowner’s door demanding to be let in. The homeowner told him to go away. The ECSO says the homeowner heard someone trying to break in and fired a number of shots. One bullet hit the suspect in the shoulder and the suspect retreated to his vehicle.
UPDATE: 8:35 AM: A spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s office says the suspect in this incident on Redoubt Avenue was shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. They say the suspect attempted to gain entry to a home on Redoubt Avenue off Gulf Beach Highway and was shot. Authorities say the suspect drove himself to the emergency room. The man has not been formally identified by the Sheriff’s Office. Charges are expected.
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) An intruder was shot during a home invasion early Monday morning.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s office confirms this happened on Redoubt Avenue shortly before 6:00 a.m.
The suspect was taken to Baptist Hospital where he is alert and expected to survive.
