VIDEO: Lee County tornado captured on bar surveillance cam

State / Regional

SMITHS STATION (WRBL) – Buck Wild Saloon owner David McBride did not know what was on his security cameras but had a pretty good idea it might show how the tornado that destroyed his bar as it moved into that part of Smiths Station.

He was right.

This incredible footage from multiple cameras inside and out the bar shows the damage just as the storm hit Sunday along U.S. 280.

News 3 photographer Kevin Roble asked McBride if he would share the security camera footage. He gave News 3 the server. We took it back to the studio in Columbus.

News 3 Chief Engineer Gentry Creamer was able to access the server and recover the video footage of the storm.

In the area next to Buck Wild, a Sunoco gas station was destroyed and a huge cell tower was toppled.
