LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a small airplane was damaged while landing at a Florida air show.
A Lakeland police news release says the front landing gear of a twin-engine Beechcraft Barron collapsed Tuesday afternoon, causing the aircraft to skid to a stop at Lakeland Linder International Airport.
Police say the runway was shut down for nearly an hour as rescue workers checked the scene and moved the plane. No injuries were reported to the Georgia couple who had been flying to Florida for the Sun ‘n Fun air show.
The Federal Aviation Administration will continue to investigate.
The Blue Angels will perform at the Sun n’ Fun air show this weekend.
