SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KETK) – According to the Shreveport Police Officer’s Association, a female officer was shot and killed Wednesday night.
Members of the association posted on Facebook: “We have lost one of our own. She was young, and she was beautiful. She was proving herself to be a capable professional, dedicated to serving the Citizens of Shreveport. We lift her family in prayer, and we thank you for allowing her to be a part of us. We stand ready to assist her family and her Academy Classmates.”
The name of the officer has not been released. The officer was headed to work to start her shift when the shooting occurred.
Sources tell KETK’s sister station, NBC 6, the officer was shot four times. The most serious injury came from the shot to the head.
It happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday night. At one point in the evening, 54 first responder units were at the scene.
Police do have someone detained for questioning. It remains unclear if they are searching for any other potential suspects.
