MONTGOMERY, AL (WIAT) — One week after the country’s toughest anti-abortion bill was signed into law, Alabama lawmakers approve another anti-abortion bill.
“I really do not see the controversial on this issue, I do not see anyone with a conscience could oppose rendering aid to a child born alive,” said Rep. Ginny Shaver.
Tuesday, the House passed a bill that punishes doctors who do not provide “reasonable care” to a baby that survives an abortion.
“This bill is so ridiculous it’s not worth discussing,” said Rep. John Rogers.
Democrats debated with the bill sponsor Rep. Ginny Shaver for nearly an hour before the passage of the bill, 66 to 18.
Wednesday, pro-life advocates took to the capitol steps to support the most recent anti-abortion bill.
“I support life at all stages, no matter the circumstances,” said Becky Gerritson.
The pro-life/pro-women really were put on by the National Students for Pro-life organization.
“Growing up in the south it was very hard to find people that looked like me who saw how important the pro-life movement is,” said Elizabeth Parker.
A lone protester attempted to clash with pro-life advocates, he was later escorted away by state troopers.
Inside that legislature, Democratic Senator Vivian Figures has filed a bill to reverse the Alabama Human Life Protection Act.
