BREAKING: Two killed in Louisiana, college campus hit by tornado

Les Guice, President of Louisiana Tech University, tweeted “Quite a few roads are blocked off around campus. And it is very difficult to drive around campus. We ask people to stay off the roads unless necessary. We will clear roadways ASAP. Our students are providing great support and encouragement for each other.”

UPDATE 6:48 a.m. Two people have been killed in Lincoln Parish, Sheriff Mike Stone confirmed to WKRG’s sister station.

The fatalities occurred in a house near the Pizza Hut restaurant just off of Interstate 20.

Stone said emergency personnel haven’t been able to recover the victims’ bodies because it is too dangerous.

Louisiana Tech University will be closed Thursday after a tornado caused damage to the campus.

The school urged students who do not live on campus to stay home and said essential personnel will be contacted by their supervisor about reporting to work.

The storm hit the Ruston campus Wednesday night.

“A significant amount of damage occurred. Power lines and trees are down in some areas on and near campus.” the school wrote on the Louisiana Tech University official Twitter account.
