DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WZDX) — An arrest has been made in the death of 11-year-old Amberly Alexis Barnett.

Barnett was reported missing from her Collinsville home on Friday, March 1. Her body was found around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Christopher Wayne Madison, age 33, has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder. He is being held without bond.

Her body was found in a wooded area approximately 200 yards behind the defendant’s home.

Dekalb County Sheriff Nick Weldon said, “Due to the ongoing investigation, and in order not to jeopardize that investigation, I am not at liberty to disclose any additional information concerning this case. The road to justice for this sweet, innocent little girl is too important to release anything to jeopardize this investigation.”

Weldon went on to thank his department’s staff and all other departments that assisted on this case, calling it a true joint effort, a team effort between multiple agencies who all worked tirelessly to get to this point.
