HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Just after 11:30 Saturday night Huntsville Police say a car being driven by Anthony Wu ran off the roadway into a home at 1003 Riverchase Rd., killing a woman who was asleep in bed.

Police say Antony Wu, 53, was driving a red 1996 Dodge Ram southbound on Chaney Thompson Rd. when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road into the front yard of a house, striking an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the driveway.  Wu’s vehicle continued moving into a different yard, striking a large bush and a fence before running into the side of a house at 1003 Riverchase Rd.  Wu’s vehicle went through the exterior wall  of the house and struck Joy Vaughn, who was asleep inside the residence.

Ms Vaughn was transported to Huntsville Hospital by HEMSI, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Wu was transported to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are believed to be a factor.  A search warrant was obtained to take a sample of his blood for analysis.  That blood sample will be sent to ADFS for toxicology.

Wu was booked into the Madison County Jail facing a Manslaughter charge.
