Alabama Senate approves gas tax, bill goes to governor for signature

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Alabama Senate on Tuesday approved a bill to increase the state’s gas tax by 10 cents per gallon.

Governor Kay Ivey is expected to sign the bill into law this afternoon.

The increase will be phased in over a three-year period to help pay for road and bridge projects across the state.
