Alabama State's First 1st Round NFL Draft Pick Honored in Montgomery

MONROEVILLE, Ala. (WKRG) — Monroeville’s Tytus Howard was honored at the State Capital in Montgomery Tuesday afternoon.

Howard was recently drafted in the 1st round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

The Alabama Senate and Trustees from Alabama State University honored the Offensive Lineman who became the first Alabama State University player to be drafted in the 1st round.

“I just want to say to the Senators and Board of Trustees, thank you! , said Tytus. “It’s a blessing, hopefully, there will be more guys come up here, so I lay a platform for Alabama State.”

Coach Donald Hill-Eley, “It’s a blessing to be able to witness that hard work and commitment pays off, I am so happy for him and hoping that his going forward will create an avenue for those coming from behind.”

Howard played quarterback in high school for Monroe County.
