ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) – A woman from Escambia County has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and 16 years of probation for stealing from her own grandmother. Kishwonner Williams pleaded no contest to theft from an elderly person, filing false documents and exploitation of an elderly or disabled person back in December 2018.

The State Attorney’s office says Williams was taking care of her grandmother, an elderly and disabled woman, and quitclaimed the woman’s home. This occurred while the victim was in a nursing home. The State Attorney’s office says Williams sold the home and kept the proceeds for herself. A news release from the State Attorney’s office says, “Williams exploited the victim further by stealing the contents of the elderly person’s home and the woman’s Social Security checks. Williams faced a maximum period of incarceration of Sixty-Five years. The total amount of the loss exceeds $60,000.”

Williams will serve an extended probation to pay back what is considered a “substantial amount of restitution to the victim, or her estate.”
