Woman crashes car, claims she was avoiding a bear in the road

CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WKRG) — A woman in Crestview is recovering from a bad wreck she claims was caused by a bear.

According to Christina Minnier on Facebook, she was driving on State Road 285 heading to Niceville for work Thursday, April 25 around 11:44 p.m. She claims a bear “bolted from the tree line” in front of her car while she was coming around a long curve in the road. Minnier says she swerved to avoid hitting the bear and hit a hill off the road causing her car to flip. She claims the car flipped four times before landing on the roof of the car.

News 5 contacted Florida Highway Patrol who responded to the accident. They say the accident report has no mention of a bear in the road; however, she is charged with failure to maintain lane.
