PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The USO of Northwest Florida is collecting supplies for Coast Guard families suffering from the government shutdown.
Kelsey Hill is a volunteer who is also an active Coast Guard wife. She says she started collecting supplies on her front porch and it grew to something larger.
Now the USO has opened its facility at NAS Pensacola to help out. The drop off locations includes the USO, Pensacola International Airport, Destin/ Fort Walton Beach International Airport and the Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station.
Hill says they are collecting everything from non-perishable foods, soap, toilet paper and diapers.
The USO will be donating perishable foods like meat and dairy.
“It’s important because this is a crisis,” Hill said. “We really do need the support from our community members because we support our borders.”
