UPDATE: Man arrested for fatally stabbing teen in Destin

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with homicide for allegedly stabbing his son’s mother to death Sunday evening.

According to an arrest report, deputies were called to an apartment in the 300 block of Mountain Drive around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, November 18th. 17-year-old Gabrila Espinal Lainez was found face down near the front door with stab wounds to the chest. Gabrila was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

A witness told deputies Ordonez-Garcia and Lainez got into a heated argument when he pulled her hair back and stabbed her three to four times with a steak knife, according to the arrest report. The witness told deputies Ordonez-Garcia threw the knife away in a dumpster, where it was later located. 

Kevin Ordonez-Garcia was located shortly after the stabbing by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office as he walked along Harbor Boulevard. Deputies say his clothes were covered in blood. 

Ordonez-Garcia and Lainez’s 16-month-old son was found unharmed.

A teenage girl has died after being stabbed at a Destin apartment according the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s office. It happened at an apartment off Mountain Drive Sunday. According to a Facebook post, OCSO Investigators have a person of interest in custody. The person in custody was found at a business on highway 98.

An earlier post says the department was responding to a call of a woman stabbed who was struggling to breathe. The post says the stabbing was around 7:4o in the evening.
