Two people arrested the same day for leaving animal and kids in hot car

A man was arrested at Navarre Beach on Saturday for leaving his dog in the car while he swam.

Brian Hickey was taken to jail after neighbors saw the medium size dog panting and shaking uncontrollably.

Hickey faces animal cruelty charges.

Slade Stockten says he has a dog, and makes sure his dog is safe whenever he goes to the beach.

“I’ll make sure if I have to leave him in the car, I’ll roll down my windows since he’s a pretty big fella since he’s a great dame,” Stockten said. “I try not to take him places whenever it’s hot because I don’t want to run the risk.”

Over in Pensacola on the same day, Dana Banks was arrested for leaving a baby and a seven-year-old in a car in the Walmart parking lot.

Police say when paramedics arrived, the oldest child was lethargic and seemed confused. Florida laws allow people to break windows if they see a child or animal in a hot car, in Alabama you can only do that if it’s a child, the same goes in Mississippi.
