Two people from Colorado died in a crash early Sunday morning after their SUV caught fire. It happened at about 1:40 Sunday morning at the 86 mile marker of I-10 Westbound. The report says, for some reason, the 1999 Ford Explorer SUV veered into the shoulder of I-10, down an embankment and hit a tree.
The vehicle was consumed by fire. The driver and a passenger, both from Colorado, were pronounced dead at the scene. Those two have not been identified. A third passenger Robert Lane Symons of Pueblo Colorado was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with serious injuries. The report says Traffic Homicide investigators are handling the incident.
