PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Studer Family of Companies along with Pensacola city officials and the Scape Design team out of New York City met Tuesday to discuss the Pensacola waterfront.

The project is a five month long study, that will focus on how to improve the waterfront.

Officials spoke about making it easier for people to get to different points on the water. The design team spoke about creating more activities on the waterfront. Gina Wirth with Scape Design say using nature could enhance everything around the waterfront.

“We often think that cities are without nature but that’s not true,” Wirth said. “We can really begin to have cities that have functional storm water systems and living forests as canopies and have waterfronts that are both productive for people and nature.”

The design team says the study will go from the Three Mile Bridge to Joe Pattie’s Seafood but the area could expand west.
