DESTIN, Fla (WKRG) – The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says that more and more people are becoming victims of car break-ins and they mostly have one thing in common. They are leaving their car doors unlocked. The sheriff’s office posted a map on Facebook showing the break-ins for just the southern part of the county so far this year. Dozens of red pins mark scenes of the crimes. Investigators say 15 victims were hit on Sunday in Destin alone, and according to the Facebook post, “every single car was unlocked!!! Five firearms were stolen, along with a cash box, three sets of keys, and one car.”

The post goes on to urge, “please LOCK YOUR CAR, TAKE YOUR KEYS, HIDE YOUR VALUABLES! Please share this information and help us spread the word. Thanks in advance!”
