DESTIN, Fla. (WMBB) – Destin safety officials shut down area beaches Friday after lifeguards performed dozens of rescues and at least three people were rushed to the hospital.
According to the Destin Beach safety Facebook page lifeguards performed 40 rescues Thursday after people got in trouble in strong rip currents.
Then, on Friday, lifeguards rescued 28 people. Three were sent to local hospitals.
The beaches were shut down at about 3 p.m.
