PPD: Pensacola woman attacks ex after argument over a cat

Northwest Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla (WKRG) — A Pensacola woman was arrested after police say she attacked her ex-boyfriend with a chair after an argument over a cat.

According to Pensacola Police, Christy Smith, 39, went over to her ex-boyfriend’s house Sunday night after they argued about a cat over text messages they used to have together.

According to the arrest report from police, Smith said she went to her ex’s house to “talk with him.”

The ex-boyfriend told police Smith arrived at his home and started to beat on the door with a wooden chair she found nearby. He said he went to answer the door, afraid Smith “would smash the glass on the back door” in order to break into the home.

When the ex answered the door, the report says he told police Smith started to hit him in the head “six times with pieces of wood from what used to be a wooden chair.” Police say the ex had many visible wounds on his face, neck, arms, and neck. The ex told police he believes Smith bit him due to a bruise with bite marks on his right arm.

According to the police report, the ex-boyfriend had married months before to a woman Smith claims her ex cheated on her with.

The report says the wife called police while the ex answered the door. The wife also said she recorded the whole thing on camera.

Police arrived shortly after the fight and took Smith into custody. Smith faces battery and criminal mischief charges. Smith has no bond.
