One killed in crash involving car and ECUA truck

One person was killed Friday morning in a crash involving an Emerald Coast Utilities Authority truck.

The accident happened on Pine Forest Road near 9 Mile Road at around 8:40 a.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the ECUA truck and a car collided, killing someone in the car.

The man who died has been identified as 32-year-old Blake Emory Wartenbe of Pensacola.

Wartenbe tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone when his car hit the truck head-on, the accident report said.

The driver of the ECUA truck, identified as 47-year-old Robert Bodiford, as well as a passenger, identified as 62-year-old Horace Green, were injured.
