CANTONMENT, Fla. (WKRG) — As a woman and her two children are recovering at a local hospital, neighbors are talking about how dangerous the intersection is where they crashed Tuesday afternoon.
“We’ve had a lot of problems with this intersection in the almost 40 years I’ve lived here,” Marc Ward said.
Ward and his wife have lived at West Ten Mile Road and Stefani Road since 1980. They were sad to see Kelsey Burdeaux and her two kids hurt in a crash outside their home.
“Anytime there’s people seriously injured especially children your heart goes out to them,” Ward said.
They have seen many car accidents outside their home over the decades.
“We’ve had cars upside down in the front yard,” he said. “We’ve had them take out our fence.”
The question now is why so many? While it was not a factor in this crash, Ward said it gets bad when it rains.
“It gets kinda slippery unless it’s a heavy downpour,” he said. “You start sliding through the stop sign.”
He has seen cars go straight into the ditch especially at night because the street is uneven crossing over Stefani Road.
Burdeaux is listed in good condition at Sacred Heart Hospital and her seven and ten year old girls are still listed in critical condition.
