CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WKRG) — The Crestview Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are currently investigating the scene of an early morning shooting at the Cash’s Lounge on Ferdon Boulevard South.
The shooting at the former Crest Lounge happened around 2:25 a.m. when a gunman shot and killed 39-year-old Pernell Thomas. Another man was grazed by a bullet and was treated at North Okaloosa Medical Center.
A Crestview Police officer who had been hired by the lounge for a security detail was patrolling the parking lot when the shooting happened. The officer pursued the suspect on foot as he ran from the building.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Crestview Police Department on scene. The scene is now being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The State Attorney’s Office also had personnel at the scene.
Crestview Police investigators have conducted “numerous interviews” with people who were at the lounge, according to one investigator.
