CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WKRG) — A local business leader donates enough money to completely fund the Crestview Police Department’s Summer Youth Academy.

Financial consultant Yvonne Shanklin presented Crestview Police officers, along with Crestview Citizens Police Academy Alumni treasurer with a check for $650 at the historic Shankin’s offices at the historic Ward House.

The check will cover this year’s Youth Academy and part of next year’s. The Police Youth Academy allows kids and teenagers to get hands-on experience with police work. Ms. Shanklin’s donation will provide each PYA student with a t-shirt as well as covering costs for class supplies.

The non-profit CCPAA works with Crestview Police to raise money for police programs that aren’t funded by city funds.
