A homicide suspect who’s been on the run for more than a year is now in custody in Northwest Florida.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted Deon Keith Harris Tuesday afternoon and tried to pull him over.
Deputies say Harris led them on a pursuit, during which he struck another vehicle, injuring a driver.
Harris was taken into custody near Davis Highway and I-10.
The sheriff’s office says Harris was wanted for killing Allen Elliott in January 2017. Elliott was found shot to death at an apartment complex on Nine Mile Road.
Another suspect, Shaquille Jordan, was arrested about three weeks after the murder.
