PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Family and friends gathered Thursday night to honor a one-year-old boy found dead over the weekend at Pensacola Village Apartments.
The Pensacola Police Department is investigating calling the death suspicious. Family members are wondering how Kamarion Scott died.
“I think that’s what hurts everybody is that he’s not coming back and there’s no reason for him to be gone,” Karmarion’s Great Aunt Shariana Johnson said.
Johnson organized a candlelight vigil outside the door where Kamarion, often called Mari, died in Building C.
“He was just the sweetest thing,” Johnson said. “He’d come up to you and just hug you.”
This is the second baby Johnson has lost. One of her young grandchildren died in the same building.
Johnson and the family now want closure for the one-year-old boy beloved by everyone in the neighborhood.
“He was the most liveliest child you could meet,” she said. “As long as you had some food in your hands Mari was good with you. When it got to the point where Mari wasn’t eating we knew something was wrong.”
Police are continuing their investigation and awaiting autopsy results.
