PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A teacher in Escambia County who’s been charged with sexual assault on several former students has resigned from the school district.

The school board approved the resignation at Tuesday night’s regular meeting.

Mark Lua, 30, was arrested a third time a little over a week ago and charged with obscene communication and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony.

That charge came after another victim, a former student of his at Ferry Pass Middle, came forward accusing Lua of sexual battery.

Lua, a former teacher at Booker T. Washington High School, was first arrested January 17 after being accused of having a student send him sexual videos.

He was arrested again January 30th and accused of sexual assault after a victim said she and Lua had sex at his home on Patch Lane. She said Lua was her drama teacher when she was at Ferry Pass Middle.

He allegedly used a fake Instagram account to communicate with students and have them send explicit photos.

The school district suspended Lua initially until the investigation was complete.
