ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — An Escambia County man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend multiple times during an argument over interrupting him watching a football game.

Deputies say on August 27, 32-year-old Cordeal Hawthorne first slapped the female victim across the face during a heated argument after she allegedly interrupted him while watching a football game. The report states Hawthorne then went outside to smoke a cigarette.

The arrest report says the victim then closed the door behind her, locking Hawthorne out of the apartment. Hawthorne then kicked the door in, ran inside the home and began to strike the victim in the face repeatedly.

Deputies say during the fight, the victim was thrown around the room by Hawthorne, and she hit her head on a piece of furniture.

Hawthorne was taken to jail with no bond. He faces felony battery charges.
