Fort Walton Beach police responded to a shooting on Second Avenue Thursday evening.
Police say a black SUV pulled up and someone shot several rounds at a house on the street. A dog that was outside the home was shot by a stray bullet. Neighbors say the dog was a pitbull and it passed away.
Angela is a neighbor, she does not want us to use her last name. She says she heard the entire thing.
“I heard lots of pops,” Angela said. “Then I heard the dog yelping in pain.”
Angela says the neighborhood is usually safe and quiet.
“I’m still shaken,” she said. “I have the worst headache right now because I keep replaying the sound of the gunshots in my head.”
Angela says anyone could have been hit.
“There’s always children outside,” Angela said. “And the dog is so friendly that a lot of the kids will come up to the gate and pet the dog.”
Police say Edwin Grissom is a suspect in the shooting.
