DESTIN, Fla. (WKRG) — City Manager Lance Johnson declared Sunday afternoon a “State of Civil Emergency” for Destin beginning Monday as Tropical Storm Fred churned toward the Florida panhandle.
The city’s facilities are closed and will remain closed throughout Monday, Aug 16.
All after school and outdoor city activities were canceled until further notice.
The city will operate “at minimum staffing levels,” according to the release. Essential personnel will remain on call or on duty to “respond to most situations.”
Waste Management planned to run normal routes Monday and Tuesday.
Governor Ron DeSantis issued a State of Emergency on Friday, Aug. 13.
