PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Blue Angels are closing out their season this weekend at NAS Pensacola. Day one of their Homecoming Air Show was Friday.
The air show draws people from all over. News 5 spoke with visitors from Dothan and Miami.
Mauro Silva told us he always wanted to come to one of the Blue Angels’ air shows.
“It’s like a childhood dream,” said Silva. “You have the F-14, the F-18, the airplanes I grew up seeing. So I’m excited for the show.”
The air show offers more than just a long lineup of planes doing tricks in the air. There is also a large static display of different types of planes.
“I like to see some of the older aircraft, too, and just talk to the pilots and know what their mission is,” said Paul Lee.
Spending the day at NAS for the airshow is something many people enjoy.
“The grounds and everything is just beautiful,” said Glenn Gelatt. “I’m really enjoying it.”
If you didn’t make it out Friday, the Homecoming Air Show is happening again Saturday. Gates open at 8 a.m. The air show begins at 9:30 a.m. The Blue Angles are scheduled to fly between 1:30 and 2 p.m. For more information about the Homecoming Air Show, visit the air show website.
