UPDATE (3/18) — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has released more details in the murder and attempted suicide that happened in Bluewater Bay Friday.
The sheriff’s office says 3-year-old Frederick Frankey Jr. was found on the floor in his home on Rawlins Court by his mother who has just returned from work.
The sheriff’s office says the autopsy on the 3-year-old revealed he died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Deputies say a steak knife was found on the scene.
The child’s father, Frederick Franken Sr., 61, was found lying on the floor beside his son who deputies say had multiple self-inflicted stab wounds.
Franken Sr. is currently in stable condition at an area hospital.
The child’s mother told OCSO investigators the couple was experiencing marital difficulties and had recently told her husband she wanted a divorce.

There are new details in the investigation into a murder and apparent attemped suicide in Okaloosa County, Florida. The details include the names of the victims and what the incident stemmed from.
According to a news release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office:
A three year old boy was killed in an apparent domestic violence related murder followed by an attempted suicide at a Bluewater Bay area home Friday. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 1476 Rawlins Court around 4:30 p.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call. The child’s mother had arrived home from work to find both her son and her husband, 61-year old Frederick Franken, on the floor of the home. Three year old Frederick Franken Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office. At last word Frederick Franken was listed in critical condition at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing.
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla, (WKRG) –The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a murder and apparent attempted suicide.
According to OCSO, deputies were called to a home in the Bluewater Bay area around 4:30 Friday afternoon in reference to a disturbance.
Deputies say one person had been killed and another is currently alive and undergoing treatment at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
OCSO has not released any more details at this time.
