Bond has been set at $481,500 for a woman who is charged with aggravated manslaughter, child neglect and 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Jessica Lynn Monell is accused of leaving her 2-year-old child in a car for more than 8 hours. Monell will not be allowed to have contact with minors unsupervised. She will also surrender her passport, wear a GPS monitor and is not allowed to have alcohol. Additionally, she will be tested for drugs randomly.
Monell will next appear in Circuit Court May 2nd, 8:30 am.
Escambia County Deputies say the mother Jessica Lynn Monell has been arrested.
She’s charged with aggravated manslaughter, child neglect and 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Deputies say when she got home early Wednesday morning she left her two-year-old daughter in the car and went to sleep.
When she woke up hours later and remembered her daughter was in the car, the girl was found dead.
Monell had meth and prescription narcotics in the home according to deputies.
The child was left in the car for 8 hours.
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A homicide investigation is underway after a 2-year-old child was found dead inside a van in Escambia County Wednesday afternoon.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 4 p.m to a child found inside a vehicle on Meadson Drive at the Aqua Porta Apartments.
The sheriff’s office says they are still investigating the cause of death. An autopsy will be conducted by Friday, according to investigators.
Investigators say no one has been arrested in the case.
