TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have caught a bear that wound up in the yard of a home near Adventure Island.

The bear was captured after it was tranquilized and fell out of a tree.

Tampa Police officers had been chasing the bear.

The chase ended when the bear climbed a tree in the backyard of a home at 4213 Linebaugh Ave., near Adventure Island.

The bear, estimated at about 6-feet tall, was first spotted by a Tampa Police officer at about 5:30 a.m. The officer was responding to an unrelated call when he saw a large animal running by.
