UPDATE: Names of two who died in IHOP shooting released

The Madison County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the two men who died in the IHOP shooting Wednesday night. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The employee who was killed was Roy Brown Sr., 56, of Huntsville. The customer who was involved was identified as Roderick Turner, 25, of Huntsville. Both died of fatal gunshot wounds.

IHOP has shared a statement on Wednesday night’s shooting at the Huntsville IHOP on Drake Avenue near Parkway Place Mall:

“At present, we’re working with the franchisee and local team to better understand the details surrounding the tragic and senseless incident that occurred at the Huntsville, AL IHOP last night.

“For now, the priority is on taking care of the guests and team members who were there. The restaurant team is working closely with and assisting authorities to piece together the events that unfolded. The restaurant is currently closed pending an investigation.

Two people are dead after a shooting at the IHOP on Drake Avenue near Parkway Place Mall.

Huntsville Police got the call around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Lieutenant Michael Johnson says that three people were shot, including two employees and the customer who came in with the gun. The customer who had the gun and one employee died. The other employee is at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they were told that a customer was upset with service and went to his car and grabbed a handgun.

Police did not clarify exactly how the customer with the gun died, but they say both men who were killed appear to have died from gunshot wounds.

Dozens of police cars were at the scene interviewing witnesses about what happened. Investigators plan on staying at the IHOP throughout the night.

The families of the deceased have been notified, and they will release names later on.

The two people who died were men and the employee in the hospital is also a man.
