UPDATE: Inmate escaped from Loxley work release center recaptured

Update

  A state inmate who escaped from the Loxley Work Release Center early Sunday morning is back in custody. 

An Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 tracking unit recaptured 29-year-old John Walker Johnson, Jr. without incident at 4:20 a.m. about a mile from the work release center.   Walker was reported missing from the correctional facility during an inmate count at 2:30 a.m.
 
Walker is serving 20-year sentence on a 2007 first-degree robbery conviction in Montgomery County.   He was taken to a medium security facility and will be charged with the escape.

Officials with the Alabama Department of Corrections are looking for an escaped inmate.  29-year-old John Walker Johnson Jr. was reported missing at about 2:30 this morning from the Loxley work release center.

The news release describes him as a black male, six feet, one inch tall.  He was reportedly serving a 20 year sentence for robbery out of Montgomery County.  Anyone with information on where he might be is asked to contact authorites
