The screen capture circulating social media, distressing students and parents at Baker and Blount HS in Mobile is actually a threat out of New Mexico.
The Mobile County Public School System says this threat is actually from a student from Belen High School in New Mexico.
Ours Nexstar sister station in Albuquerque, KRQE reports Belen Police have arrested the student they say is responsible for posting a threat toward Belen High School on social media.
They say Belen High School sophomore, Jonathan Flores, confessed to posting the Snapchat threat.
Police say Flores told officers that he posted the threat as a joke. Flores also told officers he did it to get attention and wanted to see what kind of reaction his post would get. Officers say Flores told them that he never intended to hurt anyone.
The Belen Police Department is now working with the District Attorney’s office on charges, which may include a felony charge.
The superintendent of Belen Consolidated Schools, says he will not tolerate this kind of behavior and Flores will not be coming back to school.
“Parents I want you to know. Talk to your children and let them know how serious this is, this is very serious business and we’re not going to mess around,” said Perez.
