Two men charged in murder of Alabama man making a delivery; days before his wedding

ALBANY, Ga. (WDHN) — Two men have been charged with the murder of a Dothan man making a glass delivery in Albany, Georgia shortly after 5 am on Wednesday morning. 

 Dontavious Wingfield, 26, and Demond Wingfield,19, are both behind bars and charged with the murder of Che’valier Kenyatta Paul. 

Paul was supposed to get married this Saturday, July 14. 

Albany police officers were called to Mercedes Street shortly after 5 AM after receiving calls of gunshots from residents.

When officers arrived they found the passenger side window of a PGW Auto Glass van shattered and the victim was inside unconscious and not breathing. 

Detectives suspect that  Paul was shot after returning to his van after making a glass delivery for PGW Auto Glass.

Paul worked for the company’s office in Dothan since January 2018 and fellow employees described him as a great guy and employee. 

Senior Vice-president and General Manager for PGW Auto Glass Gary K. Eilers released a statement to WDHN stating: 

“PGW Auto Glass was saddened and stunned to hear of the passing of one of our drivers, Mr. Che’valier Kenyatta Paul. Our thoughts and condolences are with the friends and family of Mr. Paul during this tragic time.” 

Both men are currently booked in the Dougherty County Jail.
