JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car accident involving a dump truck on I-10 in Florida Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, the accident happened at 12:00 p.m. on I-10 as a 2014 Chevrolet 2500, with two people inside, was merging on the interstate from the westbound entrance ramp at mile marker 130.

According to the accident report, a Mack Dump truck was traveling westbound on the left, inside westbound travel lane of I-10.

As the Chevrolet was merging onto the interstate, the driver of the Chevrolet lost control, the report says. The Chevrolet traveled into the path of the Mack dump truck causing the front of the Mack to collide with the left, driver’s side portion of the Chevrolet, officials say.

The report says both vehicles then came to a rest on the north shoulder of the westbound travel lanes of I-10 still conjoined.

Both the driver and a passenger were killed in the accident, according to officials.

According to the accident report, the driver of the Mack dump truck had no injuries.
