A TORNADO WATCH covers Alabama and Florida counties in the News 5 Area until 5pm this evening. Isolated severe storms with damaging winds and/or isolated brief tornadoes are possible.
In the Watch, severe weather is possible. A few storms could turn severe. It is important to stay tuned to the forecast through the day today and make sure you have a way to get warnings. Storms will continue to move eastward and exit the Florida Panhandle around dinnertime.. If a storm within this line were to become severe it will likely produce strong winds and possibly damaging winds of 57 mph +. There’s a small risk for a few isolated tornadoes. Be aware. The chance for flooding is low. Most will pick up around an inch of rain.
After the thunderstorms move out, much colder air will move in tonight. That cold air will be in a hurry to move in. Winds will be out of the north around 20-25 mph with gusts of 30 mph possible.
A Wind advisory covers coastal Mobile, coastal Baldwin and the coastline of the Florida Panhandle starting at Noon today and lasting through tomorrow morning at 6am. This is for wind gusts over 30mph.
A Wind Advisory also covers Mobile Inland, Balwin Inland, Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh, Escambia AL & FL, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa through this evening for wind gusts up to 35mph and sustained winds of 25-35mph.
