MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — If you are a fan of cold weather, next week is for you!
The warm and muggy air that we’ve had Thursday will stick around through at least Friday. However, by Friday night a cold front moves in and that will begin to clear and cool us down.
Our winter temperatures won’t come this front, but it will set the stage. We warm up marginally Sunday into Monday, but nothing close to the last few days. A second cold front will move in sometime around Tuesday. That’s when winter-like temperatures move in.
Tuesday will be cool and windy with highs only in the 50s. There also may be a few lingering showers. We clear heading into Wednesday, but on Wednesday morning there is a chance we get our first frost or even light freeze of the season!
Typically our first frost is at the end of November so we would be ahead of that. Also, the last time we had 30s was middle April, but the last time we had freezing temperatures was January 31 in Mobile!
We likely get 30s once again on Thursday morning, but at least both days should warm up nicely. The next 6-10 days though look like temperatures will be well below normal. Normal this time of year is highs near 70 and lows near 50.
A couple things to keep in mind. If you have plants you may need to cover them up if their sensitive next week. Go through your winter clothes especially since Tuesday into Wednesday will likely feel cooler than what it will be with the wind. While the mornings will be cold, thankfully it won’t stay cold for the length of the days. If you get cold easy, check your heating system and make sure the filters are good to go.
