Tuscaloosa native receives Vietnam Veterans of America 2018 Veteran of the Year Award

ENTERPRISE, Ala. - (WIAT) – Larry Snyder, a Tuscaloosa native, received the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) 2018 Veteran of the Year Award at the Alabama State Convention of the VVA .

The award is presented to a VVA member whose leadership and community service improves the life of veterans, according to a release by the Association of the United States Army Central/West Alabama Chapter. 

Snyder is the President of the Tuscaloosa VVA, Chapter 301, which donated over $40,000 to veterans, during the past two years, according to the release.

The Tuscaloosa VVA, Chapter 301 has completed the following, according to the release :

  • Last Christmas the chapter conducted a food program that fed 275 vets and their families and countless hours of service on the community. 
  • Supported American Legion Honor Guard
  • Provided military honors to deceased veterans
  • Supported the Army Junior ROTC program at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa

The award will be presented on November 11, at the Annual Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham.
