Former Alabama officer indicted on possession of child porn charges

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) - Friday, a former Fultondale police officer was indicted on three possession of child porn charges after being arrested in August of 2016.

Allan Wayne Evans, 48, was arrested August 17, 2016 and charged with three counts of possession of obscene material of a person under the age of 17.

According to court records, ALEA's cyber crime unit investigated the case. An affidavit filed in 2016 claims Evans "did willfully and knowingly, posses an obscene matter....one Toshiba hard drive containing...a visual depiction of a person under the age of 17 engaged in an act of sado-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, genital nudity or other sexual conduct."

CBS 42 spoke to the Fultondale Chief of Police in the days following Evans' 2016 arrest, who told us Evans was no longer employed at the FPD. He told us ALEA's SBI was investigating and that none of the activity was related to Fultondale or his work as an officer.

Evans bonded out of jail on August 18, 2016; each charge had a bond of $15,000, for a total $45,000.

The Friday indictments have not yet been filed in the state court system. Check back for updates on this developing story.
